Google is working on a new Chromecast with Google TV device that looks drastically different from previous models.
According to 9to5Google, it will be called the TV Streamer and will feature a set-top box design instead of an oval dongle. The remote will also get a slight redesign but will maintain its oval shape.
The Google TV Streamer is expected to be similar in size to a Pixel Tablet Charging Speaker Dock but more slanted. It has two cables coming out of the back, likely an HDMI and a power cord. There is no information yet on whether it will have display or touch capabilities.
The remote will have the volume keys on the top instead of the side. The Home key will be color-coded, while the voice input key will have a regular microphone image instead of the Assistant logo. This change aligns with Google’s plan to merge its AI engine, Gemini, with Assistant across all devices. The Input/Source key will feature a Magic symbol, which users can reprogram for various functions, including device inputs or app shortcuts.
Google has a major event on August 13, where the new Pixel 9 phones will be unveiled. We might also see the TV Streamer introduced, but further confirmation is needed.
