Apple has quietly made its trade-in program a little more tempting, raising estimated credit values for a wide range of devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches and select Android phones.
The update, first spotted by 9to5Mac, gives some customers a better reason to hand over an older device when shopping for a new Apple product. While many increases are modest, a few higher-end Macs received much larger bumps, making this a notable change for anyone planning an upgrade.
Apple trade-in values increase for Macs, iPhones and more
The biggest gains appear to be in Apple’s Mac lineup. According to the updated trade-in estimates, the Mac Studio saw the largest jump, with its maximum credit rising by more than two hundred dollars compared with the previous offer. The MacBook Pro and Mac Pro also received meaningful increases.
Among the standout updated trade-in values:
- MacBook Pro: now valued up to $855, previously $690
- Mac Pro: now valued up to $2,195, previously $2,045
- Mac Studio: now valued up to $1,305, previously $1,045
Not every device received a major change. Many models reportedly moved up by smaller amounts, often in the $5 to $20 range. Still, even a small increase can help soften the cost of a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch, especially when paired with carrier promotions or seasonal Apple shopping events.
New Android phones added to Apple trade-in program
Apple is also expanding the list of Android devices eligible for trade-in credit. That matters because the company regularly courts Android users who may be considering a switch to iPhone.
Newly added Android trade-in options include models such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Pixel 9 Pro XL, in particular, appears to carry a stronger estimated value than many older Android phones, which could make Apple’s offer more competitive for recent Pixel owners.
Trade-in values for Android phones are typically lower than what users might see for comparable iPhones, but Apple’s official program offers convenience. Customers can apply the credit toward a new purchase or receive an Apple Gift Card if they are not buying immediately.
Should you use Apple Trade In or sell your device elsewhere?
Apple Trade In is built for simplicity. You answer a few questions about your device, receive an estimated value, and either mail it in or bring it to an Apple Store. For many shoppers, that friction-free process is the main appeal.
That said, Apple’s offer is not always the highest available. Private resale marketplaces, carrier trade-in promotions and specialized buyback services can sometimes pay more, particularly for newer iPhones and unlocked devices in excellent condition.
The trade-off is effort. Selling privately may involve photos, messages, shipping, fees or meeting a buyer. Apple’s program is usually faster and cleaner, but convenience can come at the cost of maximum resale value.
Why Apple’s updated trade-in prices matter now
Higher trade-in estimates often arrive when Apple is preparing for stronger upgrade activity. With new iPhone, iPad and Mac buying cycles always on the horizon, better credit values can encourage customers to move sooner rather than wait.
For Apple, trade-ins also support its refurbished device supply chain and sustainability messaging. For customers, the practical benefit is straightforward: an older device may now be worth more than it was last week.
If you are planning to upgrade, it is worth checking Apple’s current trade-in estimate before making a decision. Just remember that the final value depends on the exact model, condition, configuration and inspection results.
